Microsoft announces US $3bn investment over two years in India cloud and AI infrastructure to accelerate adoption of AI, skilling and innovation

India – January 7, 2025 – During his visit to India, Microsoft chairman and CEO Satya Nadella announced the company’s plans to invest US $3 billion in India in cloud and AI infrastructure and skilling over the next two years, including establishing new data centers. This investment aims to accelerate AI innovation in India, pivotal for achieving Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of becoming a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047. Microsoft will also support the country’s long-term competitiveness by training 10 million people over the next five years with AI skills, as part of the second edition of its ADVANTA(I)GE India program.
